My daily walkie-talkie streak nearly came to a halt Tuesday when my first cancellation happened in the morning. (Yes, I’m behind on my posts.) Thankfully, my fabulous neighbor and homeschooling friend Tonya Risser saved the day!
We ended up going out after 8:30 pm, and wow, was the 65-degree temperature divine! We walked for two miles and caught up on all sorts of news and family life. It has been quite a long while since we visited, which I find ironic since we live so close and our daughters are hanging out almost daily lately.
Tonya has a wonderful, big family, including an adorable toddler grandson. She has a spunky fun entrepreneurial and creative spirit, and her heart is focused like a holy laser on God’s truth. She is always quick with a giant, beautiful smile and encouragement.
As for her creativity, where do I begin? She’s always building, painting or decorating something. Their family basically spent several months last year gutting and completely revamping an RV. Oh! You know that collection of poems I self published a few years back? Tonya was the one who inspired me and taught me how! She has published a couple of insightful, encouraging Bible devotional books (with gorgeous covers). Do you know why her covers are so pretty? Because of her beautiful and skilled photography!
If all of that wasn’t enough, she also roasts and sells her own coffees and makes her own special blends of tea at Beyond Beans and Leaves. I didn’t even mention the candles, or the exciting stint as Southwest Airlines flight attendant, or that her son is a famous motorcycling dude, or… Ha ha, I have to stop somewhere and move on with my day. I do love this super fun family.
Thank you, Tonya, for being you! You’ve overcome a bunch of junk and keep coming out the other side stronger and brighter and more awesome. I love ya, Sister! Let’s do more of these evening walks. That was refreshing!
(New feature: Running total of my mileage walked with friends on this blog challenge… 17.5 miles with 9 friends.)
