Walk Day #8, Pauline

I want to be like Pauline Gross when I grow up. (My Mom always said things like that. It makes me smile.)

Pauline makes everyone feel welcome at Discovery Pointe Church. She puts together the church directory, coordinates the greeter team, hosts a fun small group with her husband Eriks, serves on missions trips, and so much more. She gave each of my children gifts and a sweet card at their baptisms. She always has a giant, genuine smile for each of us. She’s also great at remembering names.

This kindhearted, sociable beauty is not only creative and fun, but also strong and energetic. I had to walk fast to keep up with her when we walked Monday morning at the new Paloma Community Park in Peoria.

(This was my first time checking out the park. Wow! It’s huge! And apparently it’s only halfway finished. I’ll definitely be back with the family and pups.)

Pauline and I had a wonderful time getting to know each other better and talking about family, life, ministry… I had no idea how much of her life has been devoted to fostering and caring for children with medical needs and being a Court-Appointed Advocate to children in the system. She has a heart of God totally devoted to loving and serving God and others.

We walked almost 1.5 miles on this clear, 75+ degree, sunny day. This is my favorite time of year in Phoenix! Although how is it in the 80s in mid-November?? Maybe I’ll finally go tackle my poor neglected garden this week.

Pauline, I’m inspired and impressed. Thank you for expanding my vision a bit and sharing a bit of your life with me. Also, be sure to invite me to your next group Bible Scrabble game… That sounds super fun to me! I hope we get to sing together sometime, too. ❤

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

– James 1:27, NIV Bible
(My sweet and talented Daddy made this for me.)

  1. Oh my goodness! My big sister Pauline is famous!!!
I love her! She is my sister 10 years older than me, out of 7 kids she was the 2nd oldest and acted as a mother figure to us growing up! We ALL love her so much!
Thank you for this beautiful story!
