A Day to Celebrate!

Yesterday we celebrated my youngest child’s baptism. In our Christian church, it’s a beautiful, symbolic way to proclaim your faith in the love, truth and hope of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Renzo, age 9 1/2, was so excited to finally be “bappatized.” He’s been hounding me about it for at least a year since he decided to follow Jesus.

He picked a sweet and short Bible verse to recite for our Discovery Pointe Church family: John 14:15, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” The simple truth of this verse is beautiful to me, because elsewhere Jesus sums up all of the laws and wisdom of God in one simple commandment, LOVE. Love God and love each other as well as yourself. We just have to keep reading the B.I.B.L.E.* to find out exactly what genuine, healthy, perfect love looks like in life.

You know what else is awesome? Pastor Greg Salyer is the same pastor who baptized my oldest son Nicolas 12 years ago, plus the other three kids as well. In between there we had lived farther away and attended other churches, so it’s precious to me that we ended up back in this church family for these special moments. Renzo’s baptism also brings me happy memories of my own baptism in Monticello and Matt’s in Virginia.

May each of us always remember, love, and honor God in our lives.

Stay sweet, Brother Renzo! ❤

How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.

I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.
